TIP:  Paint the backs of the
shelves the same color as the
walls to create an illusion of depth.

You don't have to fill every shelf,
and use large scale items to avoid
a "cluttered" look.
TIP:  There's a common belief that rooms will feel larger and be easier to use if all the
furniture is pushed against the walls, but that isn't the case.

Instead, float furniture away from walls into cozy  groups, so that the traffic flow in a
room is obvious. Not only will this make the space more user-friendly, but it will open
up the room and make it seem larger.
TIP: A coat or two of paint is
always a good investment. Flat
enamel/eggshell paint is good for
minimizing imperfections - the
shinier the paint the more flaws
show.  Satin is good for kitchens
and bathrooms because it's easy
to clean.

You can add some colors with
accessories, but neutral walls are
always best.  (Avoid white/off
white and always opt for a slightly
warmer hue).
TIP:  Tell a story of relaxation in
bathrooms.  Don't leave out your
personal goodies like toothbrushes, or
used towels (that tells a story you
don't want to share!).

If your bathroom is white, add pops of
color with a piece of art or a valance.
Contain necessary items in pretty
containers.
